Kri Edholm, Founder of Leadership Excursion Co., developed the leadership excursion concept after spending two decades working as a technology executive and search and rescue volunteer. Over the course of her career, she discovered a major missing component when it came to recruiting or partnering with professionals within the organizations she worked for. That missing component was a lack of effective leadership training.
Before entering any profession, many professionals earn certificates or degrees. They attend years of college, but rarely does that education include leadership training or information about how to run a team or business. She also discovered that for those who did attend a leadership course of some kind, they found the information extremely helpful, but they weren't sure how to incorporate those lessons into their working environment.
In 2015, Kri went to the drawing board and began conceptualizing what effective leadership training should look like. A proponent of hands-on learning, she mapped out creative ways to teach her teams and colleagues about leadership. She took it a step further by developing methods to help effect and drive change so her teams and colleagues could successfully implement leadership tools into their current working environments. At the conclusion of this exercise, Kri felt so passionate about her development that she made the decision to leave her corporate career and launch Leadership Excursion Co. Today, Kri and her team works with hundreds of individuals and organizations of all sizes to not only take a unique approach to leadership development, but to also help put their new leadership tools to use.
